American Pulls Airfares From Orbitz

American Airlines has decided to go it alone. Yesterday, the airline pulled all of its flights from Orbitz after a Illinois judge ruled it was OK for American to pull out of a 10-year-old deal with the online ticketing site. The Chicago Tribune says American wants online brokers to use a ticketing system that the company created to sell airfares for their flights. Consumer advocates say if other airlines follow suit, it will be much harder for customers to shop for flights by comparison shopping. But because websites like Orbitz and Priceline are price-driven, many industry experts think customers won’t even notice the option to fly American is missing.
