Alabama Lawmaker Shocks Public with Racially-Charged Email

State Rep. Joe Mitchell does not mince his words. He was on a mass email sent to dozens of lawmakers by a man who warned that any attempt to pass a gun control bill would be in violation of Alabama state law. Mitchell, who is black, responded from his government email with this: “Your folk never used all this sheit (sic) to protect my folk from your slave-holding, murdering, adulterous, baby-raping, incestuous, snaggle-toothed, backward-a**ed, inbreed (sic), imported criminal-minded kin folk.” Mitchell told reporters that he was trying to explain that “citizens who descended from slaves…have a different view of history and the constitution than white citizens.”
