Plane Painters Hopping After Two Big Airline Mergers

It’s been a good year to be in the business of painting airplanes, reports the Wall Street Journal. With the recent Delta / Northwest and Continental / United mergers the airlines have been keeping paint contractors on overtime. One painting company CEO says they’ve “turned on the turbo” to keep up.
This story is mostly about the business trend, but it has a “how things work” aspect that I love, explaining the logistics of painting something so big. And the Journal produced a time-lapse video of the transformation of an old United plane.
