Workin Hard or Hardly Workin? Website Puts Mask on Facebook

Bay Gross, a Harvard computer science major, wanted a way to keep in touch with a friend who was spending the summer at a government internship. But like many corporate warriors, the friend was forbidden from using Facebook while at the office. Undeterred, Gross spent fifteen hours creating a program that turns anyone’s Facebook page into an Excel spreadsheet, innocuously titled, Daily Cash Reconciliation. Genius.

The site is called HardlyWork.in. All one has to do is login to a Facebook account from the site and everything—your photos, messages, videos—are accessible in neatly ordered rows and columns. You can search, load new items, and hover over your friends names to see their photos. You can even “like” things by clicking a small button in the right hand corner:

Clearly, Gross hit the nail on the head. Since the site launched at the beginning of July, it’s received about 10,000 unique hits a day says the Huffington Post, who tracked down Gross for an interview. Oh and what happened to his friend working at the government job? She “liked” HardlyWork.in so much she told all of her colleagues, meaning next time you’re in a government office and you see an employee hunched over a spreadsheet, take a closer look.
