The most successful story we’ve ever had on Pat’s Papers was from a couple years ago when Canada and the US played in the Olympic hockey final. I got my hands on data from the local utilities company demonstrating, in toilet flushings, how gung-ho the Canadian public is about hockey.

Yesterday, the New York Post gave the same treatment to water usage stats during the Super Bowl. According to the Department of Environmental Protection, it wasn’t until Tom Brady missed his second Hail Mary attempt that New Yorkers really…relaxed and spiked water usage in the city by13 percent. There were so many bathroom breaks says the Post, that the 30-foot-deep water level at the reservoir used by the city’s sanitation department decreased by 2 inches.
