Snap, Crackle, Free Money

Word to the wise: If you’ve purchased a box of Rice Krispies or Cocoa Krispies between June 1, 2009 and March 1, 2010, you are eligible for a free $15. Part of a class-action settlement against Kellogg, the money is available to anyone who fills out an online claim form, verifying under “penalty of perjury” that they did indeed buy a box of Snap, Crack, Pop in the alloted time span. The settlement is intended to pacify consumers who were upset about the cereal’s claim that it supports your immune system, despite having no proof that it does. Fittingly—or perhaps ironically, no proof of purchase is necessary to get in on the class-action action and each household can claim up to three boxes, for a grand total of $15.
