Pat’s Favorite Super Bowl Ads

I didn’t think it was a great year for Super Bowl ads. There were a lot that were mildly amusing. But very little that made you laugh out loud. This is by no means comprehensive, but here are a few of my favorites:
CarMax’s “Kid in a Candy Store” took a cliche and ran with it:
I really enjoyed the ad about the guy who mistakenly hit “reply all” for a nasty e-mail. Except I had no recollection of who the advertiser was. It was only upon searching this morning that I remembered it was Bridgestone:
The Snickers “You’re Not Yourself” spot was excellent. I loved the “worldwide shortage of gazebos” line.
The NFL’s mashup of classic TV clips was very fun:
and it wasn’t really a commercial, but the opening essay, delivered by Michael Douglas, was excellent:
UPDATE: By popular demand (as per the comments) I’m adding the Darth Vader Volkswagen commercial to the list. A well told story that we all can relate to:
