Pat Enters the Wu

From this day forward, I’ll be known as Tha Prophet. No, that’s not a nickname my daughters christened me with or my colleagues at NY1 for that matter - it’s my Wu Tang Clan name. I’m probably late to the game, but I just stumbled across the Wu Tang Name Generator, an amazing way to waste some time.

I couldn’t help but run a few celebrities through the Wu generator to see how I stacked up.  If Barack Obama aka Annoyin’ Swami, Walt Mossberg aka Lucky Conqueror, Steve Jobs aka Vulgar Genius, Diane Sawyer aka Arrogant Bastard, or Tiger Woods aka Wicked Mercenary would be willing to give up their current careers, we could make a pretty rocking cover band.

Of course, one thing led to another quick Google search, which revealed that random name generation seems to be a popular pastime. For example, if the Wu Tang Clan isn’t your cup of tea, you can generate a random band name and start your own group. (I’ve got dibs on Foghorn Advisers.)  If you’re an entrepreneur looking to start a new business, you can get help coming up with a company name or even a product name. Again, I found Gloriousmonkey and Treezumtone first.

And if you’re just trying to find a fake name for “screenplays, fake id’s, car rentals, pick-up lines, books or prank calls,” you can go to the random name generator, which pull its information from the US census. So if you wake up one morning to see Tyrone Dittmar aka Tha Prophet reading you In the Papers, you’ll know what I’ve been Googling.
