NY1’s Morning Glory

NY1 is in the New York Daily News this morning. Actually it’s in the background. Our morning executive producer Leslie Martelli-Hines is the focus of a big feature, inspired by the new movie, “Morning Glory.” She talks about how she deals with waking up before 2 am every weekday, how she deals with breaking news first thing in the morning and of course, how she deals with me.
I got a kick out of the photo caption that showed me being briefed by Leslie before heading “to the hair and makeup department.” (I guess that’s fancy talk for the room where I do my own hair and makeup!) Leslie’s advice for aspiring morning news producers is good: remember to have a sense of humor.
Thanks to writer David Yi and photographer Joy Keh for spending the morning with us a couple of weeks ago. When they chose NY1 for this movie-related story they weren’t even aware that we had rented a portion of our newsroom to “Morning Glory” so they could dress it up as the fictional IBS network headquarters. Here’s a preview of “Morning Glory”
