Red Sea: Moses May Have Had Help From Wind

Moses may have actually parted the Red Sea. Using a computer program, scientists in Colorado were able to recreate the Exodus story. But instead of just using his hands, he would’ve had to have some serious help from the wind.

The researchers say if conditions are right the laws of fluid dynamics would allow a safe passage through water to occur for a short period of time. After tracking down a possible site for the crossing in the Mediterranean, they found that “a wind of 63 miles per hour, blowing steadily for 12 hours, could have pushed back waters 6 feet deep.” If these guys are as smart as they seem to be, their next project will be finding out whether turning water into wine is actually possible.

You can check out the fascinating computer model at the Public Library of Science.
