Morgan Spurlock’s Information Diet

With his new movie hitting theaters today, documentary maker Morgan Spurlock talked to AdWeek about his daily “information diet.” He says he consumes an “insane amount” of TV, but tries to use the recommendations of trusted friends to steer him to the programs that are worthwhile. I was pleased that he noted NY1 is part of his morning routine. He told writer Andrew McMains, “I love me some Pat Kiernan in the morning.”

You can read more about Spurlock’s new movie “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” on his website morganspurlock.com. The USA Today review of the documentary says he exposes the machinations of product placement in movies with his “sardonic wit and gleeful zeal” in a movie that is “equal parts relevant and amusing.” The New York Post’s Lou Lumenick wasn’t as kind to Spurlock. The hook of the movie is that it tells the story of product placement through its own product placement. Lumenick says viewers might feel “entitled to compensation for having to sit through this many product plugs.”
