M & M Revelation

I’m mostly an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of guy. I didn’t really need “new Tide” because I thought old Tide cleaned the clothes just fine. I haven’t upgraded to an iPhone 4 yet because the 3GS does almost as much. And I drive a 1999 car because, well, it ain’t broke and only has 60,000 miles on it. So I wasn’t overly enthusiastic when the friendly guy behind the counter at a CVS in Atlanta told me I should try the new M & Ms.
He directed me to a blue package. At first, it seemed like he was getting some sort of commission but I think maybe he just really likes the new M & Ms and wanted me to share in his discovery. And that discovery proved epic: The blue M & M package, it turns out, is stuffed with chocolate-covered pretzels.
I hadn’t been feeling the need to expand my horizons beyond regular and peanut varieties. But I’m an adventurous fellow. So I bought TWO packages.
And they were really good.
Of course, the basic chocolate-covered pretzel is hardly an M & M innovation. It’s a familiar classic with the salty/sweet combination. But they’re always so messy. It seems that whatever type of chocolate they typically use is prone to melt. They melt onto each other and they melt onto your hand, and that’s all before melting in your mouth.
The M & M candy coating takes care of that problem. I ate whole bag of Pretzel M & Ms at 95 degrees without incident. And that’s when I realized it wasn’t the other flavors of M & Ms that were “broke.” It was the chocolate pretzel that needed fixing.
