Is Brian Williams After Pat’s Job?

Brian Williams—should I be worried? In an interview with the New York Times’ David Carr this morning, Williams says he would “happily go to work at NY1 if he got fired tomorrow.” A more in-depth reading put me at ease: his love of local news is more of a motivation than say, my comfortable anchor chair, but still. 

Williams actually cased my gig earlier this year when the cast of “30 Rock” overtook the NY1 studio to tape an episode. He didn’t seem like he had anything up his sleeve—in fact, he was nothing but kind and funny. But in retrospect, I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t leave my chair for 36 hours during NY1’s Hurricane Irene coverage—Carr says Williams sat in at the the local New York NBC affiliate, to give the anchors a break during the storm coverage.
