Canada’s big finish in the Olympics was the top story today, with 29 out of 30 newspapers reporting on the men’s hockey team’s win over the USA in overtime, giving the host nation the most gold medals (14) in the games. Only the New York Post chose not to give our neighbors to the north any headlines and instead devoted its entire front page to a scandal involving the state’s governor. A magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Chile that killed 700 over the weekend garnered 27 front-page stories, while ongoing health care reform tactics received 12.
