All but one of the newspapers in our top 30 reported on Al-Qaida’s claims that it was linked to the jetliner attack on Christmas Day and President Obama’s vow to fight threats to America’s security. The Chicago Sun-Times decided to devote the majority of its front page to a story about applesauce instead.The continuing protests in Iran received front-page coverage in eight publications.
