The top story this morning, with 24 front-page headlines, was coverage of the final deals being struck amongst senators trying to pass a health care bill before the year’s end. Also widely reported in 23 of today’s papers was news that the Obama administration ordered airlines to limit tarmac delays to three hours, after which they will be forced to let passengers disembark. Thirteen publications provided coverage of the funeral in Iran of dissident cleric Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, which caused public unrest amongst his supporters as they faced off against those loyal to the opposition.
