A little over a month ago, I sat down with Duff McDonald (@duffmcdonald on twitter) for an interview destined to become an article in New York Magazine’s “Encounter” section. In our case, the venue was a reception at the Canadian Consulate in New York. The result? “62 Minutes with Pat Kiernan,” which hits newsstands today.
During the course of our chat, we talked a lot about my longevity at NY1, which, in part, is tied to my belief in the newscasts we produce at the station. We discussed my reluctance to leave NY1 for a job that doesn’t give me the long-term relationship with the viewers that I have at NY1. And, we discussed what I’d like to do if I ever do leave NY1. That, of course, became the focus of much of the article. So we’re all on the same page, it’s true that I’d like to give Regis Philbin’s job a try when he retires.
